Walnut Creates a Charming Cape Kitchen

Walnut Creates a Charming Cape Kitchen

Warm Walnut

This Cape style home was the perfect space for a classy, quaint white and walnut kitchen. Out of the gate the finishes were selected with ease, and boy do they stand out! That rich walnut against the warm white creates such a cozy atmosphere. Inset cabinetry offers sophistication to the beautiful color pallet. Working with the client, we went through several layouts before landing on one that was just right. Being accessible from three directions, the layout was just as important as the finishes. Sometimes a space requires extra thought and time to ensure functionality, aesthetic and flow.

Feature Cabinet

The client opted for a walk in pantry to the right of the fridge. With a large window above the sink and not a lot of wall space, the pantry allowed us more decorative freedom since we didn’t have to maximize storage in the cabinetry. The countertop cabinet was a wish list item and it balances the rest of the kitchen beautifully. The functioning latch hardware, chosen by the client, added such a unique finish for this display piece!

Decorative Hood

A custom wood hood was created above the range. We chose to wrap the hood with coordinating materials to provide a built in design. The added molding on the hood, along with the stacked crown enhances the cabinetry. In conjunction with the plate display rack, these elements provide a traditional edge while maintaining modern features.

Walnut Island

This. Island. Not enough words to evoke it’s beauty! The integrated end panel finishes the look when viewing from the dining room. With dual front facing cabinetry, this workspace needed ample foot room. We removed the side toe kick to allow the molding to wrap around continuously. For storage flexibility, the client opted for drawer bank cabinets as well as doors with roll out trays. When working with inset cabinetry, the top drawer shortens. If the rails and stiles of the door are thick the flat panel becomes too small for hardware. In this case, we went with flat front top drawers to avoid overcrowding.
