Beautiful Cherry Kitchen
More than just a pretty face
Updating a kitchen requires a lot more thought than just throwing in pretty cabinetry and countertops. This space lacked flow and storage options. The bones were there and with a little reconfiguration this client gained a space that was both physically appealing and efficient. The beautiful cherry base cabinets tied together the charm and aesthetic featured in the rest of the home. The vibrant finish against the all white uppers brough such interest and attention to this space.
Reconfiguration
The new location of the refrigerator took place of a table with a few seats. To allow more working space inside the kitchen, the seating was moved to an existing peninsula that adjoins the dining room. Casual seating at islands and peninsulas is a top request from clients, and rightfully so! They end up creating a place for a quick bite, easy socializing, computer work and more.
Additionally, we relocated the range to the back wall increasing counter space on the left to allow for a larger prep zone. Base organizers were inserted on either side of the range to optimize efficiency while cooking, keeping things like spices, utensils and cutting boards close by.
Using a range hood in place of the microwave, we opted for a base installation. This provides more accessibility and a cleaner design. With a large pantry for storage, we were able to utilize a wall cabinet with glass and lighting to feature our clients nice dishes.
The warmth of the cherry wood, bronze hardware and flooring melded so well with the rest of this 1920’s home. In sourcing materials for this project, we ran into a rare GumWood molding specie. In what could have been a significant delay, our project manager was able to find the material we needed and kept us on schedule.
