Pantry Project
This beautiful navy blue pantry was built from a need for more storage and functionality within the home. What was once an odd sized first floor closet became a space for morning coffee, beverage service and glassware display. Incorporating a sink, beverage cooler and 18″ dishwasher created a room that was fully functional on it’s own. With a primary kitchen that had not yet been renovated, this pantry serves as an incredibly useful area for day to day activities as well as hosting guests.
With a focus in storage, we utilized every inch possible while selecting cabinets that would serve that same purpose. Drawer bases, a lazy susan and cutlery dividers, to name a few. Tall, narrow cabinetry stands on the outside wall and became home to serving platters and dishes, which were easily accessible given the narrow depth and height. The upper transoms could be used for seasonal items, which would only used once in a while.
Decorative elements were brought in to accentuate the blue hues and original pine floors, such as mesh wire door panel inserts, gold hardware and butcher block countertops. A soft subtle white lantern mosaic softly finishes the space. The outlets plugs installed tight to the underside of the wall cabinets offers a seamless and clean backsplash area. Given the history of the home, we incorporated a detailed crown molding application adding a touch of character.
